Believe It Or Not: Bigger Bulgarian Breasts Baffle Brutal Brute

Novinite.com reports that the Daily Mail who reports that Pravda in Russia reports that Moskovsky Komsomolets reported the following bizarre story. And they say I don't give credit for other people's stories!!

Huge silicone breast saves woman from husband's knife.

Moscow surgeons have operated the woman, who had been attacked by her own husband. The man stabbed his wife in the heart, but the knife stuck in the woman's silicone breast, which saved her life. The bizarre story about a new function of silicone breasts - body armor - took place in the family of a 40-year-old female Muscovite.

The woman had a fight with her husband, and the man grabbed a knife in a fit of anger, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper wrote with reference to plastic surgeon Sergei Blokhin. The family fight would have ended with the woman's death if it had not been for her silicone implants.

According to the surgeon, the woman's husband asked his wife to enlarge her breasts five years ago. The woman agreed. The surgeon examined the woman carefully and offered to try size four implants. The client happily accepted the offer.  During the fight, the man stabbed his wife in the left breast. He was apparently trying to kill her since he was targeting the heart. However, the knife did not even reach the thorax because of the large breast implant. The medics used state-of-the-art implants filled with gel-like silicon. The content of the implant did not leak, and the breast preserved its original shape. The woman went to the clinic again after the incident and had her implant replaced with a new one.

Novinite.com report that the implants originated from Bulgaria. Good news at least! So ladies, if you are married to a psychopath you know what to do. Don't get divorced get bigger breasts

This story reminded me of another similar breast-saving dice with death. In 2006, a Bulgarian woman driver escaped relatively unscathed from a head-on pile-up with another vehicle when her 40DD breast implants absorbed most of the impact.

Elena Marinova, 24, of Sofia, pranged her motor in the northern city of Ruse. Both cars were written off and the other driver seriously injured, local paper Standart reported. A police expert explained: "The implants worked just like airbags - protecting the victim's ribs and vital organs from damage." He did, however, add: "They are not as safe as the real thing because they exploded, which airbags are not supposed to do."

Now some people would gratuitously take advantage of these stories and find some tasteless YouTube videos of exploding breasts just to make fun of a tragic situation. Not Sofia Notes. We have some integrity........

Racism in Bulgaria? No...... really?

Ashley Young (above) and Chris Smalling, Ashley Cole and Theo Walcott all subjected to racist "monkey" chants
From the BBC:

Uefa has begun disciplinary proceedings against the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) regarding events at last month's game between Bulgaria and England. The matter relates to alleged racist chanting and flares thrown by fans.

European football's governing body expects to take a decision on any potential punishment by 15 October. "A hearing will be held on 13 October and, after completion of the paperwork, a verdict will be announced," a Uefa spokeswoman told BBC Sport.

Marcos Marquinhos
Fines were the standard punishment from Uefa regarding racism until 2006, when they increased their measures to include other sanctions.  Potential punishments now include bans, stadium closure, points deduction and disqualification.

England's Ashley Young was alleged to be a victim of racist abuse during the game in Sofia. The Football Association (FA) reported the behaviour of a section of home supporters to the Uefa match delegate after the visitors' 3-0 win.

The Uefa spokeswoman said the BFU is "facing a charge relating to discriminatory chanting" and added: "They also face a charge relating to the fireworks." Between now and 13 October, communication will take place between the relevant parties before Uefa decides on what action, if any, to take.
The case, which will be heard by its control and disciplinary body, could lead to a fine for Bulgaria or additional sanctions.

The fans racist chants were not confined to England players. Bulgarian midfielder Marcos Marquinhos, who plays in Cyprus, was also the victim of abuse by the home fans. Marquinhos was actually born in Brazil but changed citizenship recently. This is somewhat ironic as Brazil's president, Dilma Rousseff, who is currently on a state visit is being given a rapturous welcome in Bulgaria. Must look up the Bulgarian word for hypocrisy. Maybe GMantis can tell me...... Must be very confusing for the Bulgarian football fans though? But then again they are easily confused.

Regretably, it must also be said that English fans also contributed to the night's festivities by shouting many anti East-European chants.

No welcome in Bulgaria if you are black, homosexual or Roma then?

Now this is awesome!

The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is a NASA mission which will observe the Sun for over five years. Launched on February 11, 2010, the observatory is part of the Living With a Star (LWS) program. The goal of the LWS program is to develop the scientific understanding to address those aspects of the Sun–Earth system that directly affect life and society.

The SDO has a dedicated YouTube Site. Here are two of the truly awesome (a much abused word these days) range of videos which have been posted since the mission started.

The first in multiple wavelengths, shows an M-2 (medium-sized) solar flare with a spectacular coronal mass ejection which occurred on 7 June, 2011. The large cloud of particles mushroomed up and fell back down looking as if it covered an area almost half the solar surface.

The second in extreme UV light, shows the Sun unleashing a large X class (strongest category) flare late on 7 Sept., 2011. The clip presents the flash of the flare and a mass of ejecta that rose above the Sun, some of which fell back to the surface.

Stunning, beautiful, majestic images. View in fullscreen and HD.

Bulgaria: Bulgarian Expert at Global Forum: Ethics, Honesty Will Guarantee PR Business - Novinite.com - Sofia News Agency

Tch, tch. tch .... Would it not be more honest of Novinite.com to also mention dear Max's relationship with the Sofia News Agency? This shameless advertising and proselytizing of Mr Behar's business empire dressed up as news compromises editorial integrity!

Where lies honesty and integrity with censorship?

Stand By Them

This will be my last post on this subject for a while. Boyko Borissov predicted that the subject will be be used as a political football for the Presidential elections and I have no wish to contribute to that particular circus.

The comments expressed on this blog are personal. I try to research when I can but my resources are limited. I have used information from Amnesty International and the Bulgaria Helsinki Committee. Regrettably, there are no reputable English language local media sources on this subject which don't reflect similar racial prejudices to those we have seen this week.

I have also used Wikipedia for some historical perpectives and I include the links below. Some of the material is eye watering. Finally, I am also attaching a link to an Amnesty International Report on the Violations of the rights of Roma in Europe published last year. It makes depressing reading.  I also outline below the main extracts which mention Bulgaria. I have to say that the situation in Bulgaria, bad as it is, pails when you read what is happening in other countries. There is no appetite for change here (at least no progressive appetite). It seems little will be done.

Bulgarians deeply resent, what they feel is, an anti-Bulgarian bias abroad. At times they are right to do so.  Notwithstanding that, it is to external help that the Roma look for support because there is very little here. It is to be hoped that the EU community does not lose sight of its 20 million Roma citizens and that it keeps a watchful eye on developments in the coming months and years. And if that is xenophobically seen as interference in Bulgarian affairs, so be it.

Amnesty International Report Main Points:
  • A detailed survey of 402 working aged Roma men and women carried out by the European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) in 2006 in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia found that only 38 per cent were in paid employment; almost two thirds reported that they had been refused employment because they were Roma.
  • Victims of forced evictions can lose their possessions, social contacts, jobs and have their schooling disrupted and are often at risk of further human rights violations. They also often end up homeless. Amnesty International has documented forced evictions in Greece, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia.
  • In 2008, the European Committee of Social Rights (the Committee) found Bulgaria in violation of Articles 11 and 13 of the European Social Charter (the Charter), which guarantee the right to protection of health, for failing to provide adequate medical assistance to Roma.
  • A study published in 2007 by the Open Society Institute found that in Romania and Bulgaria 15 per cent of Romani children never enrol in the education system, while drop-out rates for Roma are four to six times higher than the national average.
  • In its most recent report on Bulgaria, adopted in February 2009, for instance, the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) concluded: “A long-term strategy for the school integration of Roma children has yet to be devised, however, and the authorities should take the initiative more often when it comes to school integration measures for these children, given that such measures often seem to be taken by NGOs. It appears that the impact of the numerous programmes and action plans …….. drawn up, among other things, to improve the schooling of Roma children has yet to be seen.”
  • The most egregious form of discrimination manifests itself in the segregation of Roma in schools and classes offering inferior education. This violation of the right to education of Roma continues to be widespread in central and eastern Europe. ECRI has expressed concerns about the segregation of Roma in education in its most recent reports on Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia and Macedonia.
  • Ethnic profiling by law-enforcement officials is the practice of targeting individuals or groups for police operations solely on account of their ethnicity. As a form of differential treatment with no objective justification, ethnic profiling constitutes discrimination and is a human rights violation, but it has not been expressly outlawed in any European country. Research carried out by the Open Society Institute in Hungary and Bulgaria in 2005 found that Roma pedestrians in both countries were three times more likely to be stopped by police than majority ethnic Bulgarians and Hungarians despite the fact that Roma constitute only 5 to 10 per cent of Bulgaria’s population and 6 per cent of Hungary’s population.

Amnesty International: International Roma Day 2011

Jezerca Tigani, Amnesty International's Regional Campaign Coordinator for Europe talks about discrimination against the Roma across Europe on International Roma Day.

Believe it or not! MP's wife steals lover's pussy

From the BBC:

The wife of a Liberal Democrat MP has been convicted of stealing a kitten from the home of her husband's lover.

Christine Hemming, 53, whose husband John is MP for Birmingham Yardley, was found guilty of burglary at Birmingham Crown Court. She was filmed on CCTV removing the kitten, called Beauty, from the Birmingham home of Emily Cox last year.

The kitten was owned by the four-year-old daughter the MP had with Ms Cox. It has not been found since it was filmed being removed on 29 September 2010.

The Pussy & Mrs Henning
Mrs Hemming, from Moseley, Birmingham, married Mr Hemming in 1981 after they met at a conference in Bridlington. She told the three-day trial her husband had had 26 liaisons since they married and that he finally left their marital home three days before the theft.

She told the court she was dropping off post at the house in Church Road, Moseley, after arguing with her husband on the phone and did not know there was a cat there. "I left holding a kitten - there is no doubt about that - but I have no recollection of picking the kitten up." She also said she had tried to return the animal when she realised she had it by slotting it under the fence of a house in a street in Ms Cox's neighbourhood.

Isn't it amazing the trouble that a little pussy can bring!!??
